Carol Newmann

Carol and her husband, Steve, came to Thurmont in 1972 when they purchased the St. Stephen’s Church building and converted it to a private home and craft shop, which they managed for 25 years. She has enjoyed a life-long interest in history and has been a consistent advocate for preserving the rich history of Thurmont and the surrounding area. Carol served as our chief research contact until she retired from her role in 2025. As as a board member emeritus, Carol gives essential feedback and support on the activities of the historical society.
